  • Former Jet Airways Employee Arrested on Charges of Rape and Threats

In a shocking development, a former employee of Jet Airways, Amardeep Papinder Singh Sarai, has been arrested by the Oshiwara Police Station on charges of rape, unnatural intercourse, and issuing threats to his Mumbai-based model girlfriend. The FIR was registered by the Oshiwara police in March 2023, shedding light on a distressing tale of manipulation, betrayal, and abuse.

According to the victim, she first met Sarai in 2017 through a mutual friend during a time when she was emotionally vulnerable. Sarai took advantage of her vulnerability, offering emotional support and claiming to be her pillar of strength. Their relationship grew, and by October 2018, they began living together in a live-in arrangement. Sarai, assured victim that they would soon disclose their relationship to their families and seek their consent for marriage.

Exploiting the victim’s trust, Sarai engaged in forceful unprotected, aggressive, and unnatural intercourse, documenting their encounters through photographs and videos without her consent. Despite the victim’s objections, Sarai callously disregarded her pleas.

Adding further distress, Sarai regularly visited his native place in Punjab. In 2023, he forced himself upon the victim against her wishes, disregarding her well-being and personal boundaries. It was during this time that the shocking truth emerged: Sarai had secretly married another woman in Punjab in February 2021, deceiving both his wife and the victim.

When the victim sought to report the crimes to the police, Sarai resorted to threats, attempting to silence her by threatening to release their intimate and personal videos on social media, effectively jeopardizing her modelling career. Initially frightened by these threats, the victim found strength and support from her family, who encouraged her to register a complaint with the authorities.

The victim’s advocate, Abhishek Walwaikar, revealed that the police have registered the FIR and that the accused’s bail has been rejected by the Session Court at Dindoshi. However, there is concern that the police have yet to seize Sarai’s laptop or block access to his iCloud storage, where private photos of the victim may have been stored. The victim has repeatedly urged the police to take swift action, fearing that these photographs may be used to exert pressure on her and her family.

This case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of swift and thorough action by law enforcement authorities to ensure justice for victims of such heinous crimes. It also highlights the need for better protection of victims and their privacy during legal proceedings.

The victim and her family must continue to receive support and guidance from their advocate and legal professionals to navigate through the legal process. It is crucial that the police promptly address the victim’s concerns and take all necessary measures to ensure the safety and privacy of the victim, including the seizure of relevant evidence.

As the case unfolds, society must stand united in condemning such acts of abuse and rally behind the victim, fostering an environment where survivors are empowered to seek justice without fear or intimidation. Only through collective effort can we hope to eradicate such injustices and create a safer world for all.
