“Making Cancer Care Accessible” Highlights the Story of Resilience, Healing, and Hope
India, October 14, 2025: Equitas Small Finance Bank has unveiled a deeply moving film titled “Making Cancer Care Accessible”, created in association with Sringeri Sharada Equitas Cancer & Multi-Specialty Hospital, an initiative of the Equitas Healthcare Foundation. The release coincides with the beginning of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, emphasizing the importance of accessible and affordable healthcare for all.
A Story of Strength and Hope
The film narrates the powerful journey of a woman from an underserved community who courageously battles breast cancer. Her story sheds light on the emotional and financial struggles faced by countless patients across India and underscores the urgent need for accessible, affordable, and dignified cancer care.
Beyond Banking: Equitas’ Commitment to Social Good
The initiative reinforces Equitas Small Finance Bank’s core philosophy of “Beyond Banking”—an enduring commitment to addressing critical social challenges beyond financial services. Through the Sringeri Sharada Equitas Hospital, the bank provides cancer patients and their families with quality care while upholding dignity and compassion.
The hospital accepts government medical schemes such as the Kalaingar Kaappittu Thittam, ensuring that no individual is denied treatment due to financial constraints. The film also stresses the importance of early cancer screening as a life-saving practice, encouraging everyone to prioritize regular check-ups.
Rising Cancer Burden in India
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research – National Cancer Registry Programme, one in nine Indians faces a lifetime risk of developing cancer, with breast cancer being the most common among women. Projections indicate a 25–30% increase in cancer cases by 2025, driven by late diagnoses and inadequate access to affordable care. The film serves as a poignant reminder that access to treatment should be a right, not a privilege.
Leadership Perspective
Speaking about the campaign, Vignesh Murali, Chief Marketing Officer, Equitas Small Finance Bank, said:
“Our journey has always been about going beyond banking to create real impact. Sringeri Sharada Equitas Hospital stands as a symbol of that vision—where affordable cancer care gives people from underprivileged backgrounds not just treatment, but a fighting chance at life. Stories like that of our beneficiary remind us why we exist—not just as a bank, but as a force to bring dignity, healing, and possibility to every life we touch.”
